Testing the Hypothesis

Single use plastics are currently becoming more and more regulated, many grocery stores currently charge per bag used. It is a small cost and you can always buy reusable bags, however I fin myself forgetting my reusable bags all the time, even my mother struggles with this as well.
  • The who: Standard person who goes to the grocery store.
  • The what: Plastic bags are a waste and reusable bags are easily forgotten at home.
  • The why: Seeing as we were all using plastic bags just years ago, it is hard to break that habit.
3) Hypothesis: People often forget their reusable bags at home and resent the use of them as a result of this. This is a result of habit, as the new use of reusable and sustainable products is a fairly recent thing. If I were to make a system or product that helps break this habit or aid people who forget, this would be something people would take interest in.
1. Tamar Brelidze (mother)
Do you forget your reusable bags at home?: Yes, all the time.
Is this a result of habit or something else? Habit, definitely.
If I could make a system or product that helps this issue would you be interested? Yes, of course.
2. Na-Young Shin (roommate)
Do you forget your reusable bags at home?: Not as much as I used to.
Is this a result of habit or something else? Thankfully I have made bringing my reusable bag as a habit.
If I could make a system or product that helps this issue would you be interested? I feel like other people need something to remind them, so yes.
3. Vakhtang Kakabadze (father)
Do you forget your reusable bags at home?: No, I don't go grocery shopping.
Is this a result of habit or something else? I have work.
If I could make a system or product that helps this issue would you be interested? Sure, for other people I guess.
4. Jane T Perez (college student)
Do you forget your reusable bags at home?: No, but my mom shops, however she doesn't forget either.
Is this a result of habit or something else? She is very environmentally conscious.
If I could make a system or product that helps this issue would you be interested? This could be useful to people who still cling to plastic bags.
5. Chirsten Zubka (college student)
Do you forget your reusable bags at home?: Not really, I keep them in my car.
Is this a result of habit or something else? Just out of convenience sake.
If I could make a system or product that helps this issue would you be interested? I don't think its that big of an issue, people should just learn and become acclimated to stuff like this.

  1. Hello! I think you've discovered a great opportunity to take advantage of. I, myself, feel guilty using single-use plastic bags when grocery shopping, and wish I had a practical, environmentally friendly way to carry my groceries. I'm curious to know more about your interviews and other questions you may have asked. I know that the assignment only asked for 5 interviews but I believe there are more people out there who struggle with the same problem that could've provided more insight.
